Clearance Procedures:

Travel between US and British Virgin Islands:
  • Vessels traveling between the BVI and USVI must clear out of BVI waters at one of the customs offices listed below, and clear into US waters either at Cruz Bay, St. John or Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.
  • When checking into USVI in Cruz Bay, St. John, all parties must be present.
  • When traveling to the United States Virgin Islands from outside the United States, the Immigration requirements are the same as other locations in the United States.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Non-US citizens/residents cannot go to the USVI on our yachts. A Non-US citizen/resident can only enter the USVI via a commercial carrier, i.e. ferry or airplane. Clients wishing to go to the USVI should contact their local embassy/consulate for further details.
  • We recommend two websites that discuss this topic: http://travel.state.gov/vwpp.html and http://www.usvi.net/us-ins/.
  • When taking a dinghy ride to the custom dock, be sure there are life jackets in the dinghy equal to the number of people in the dinghy (US park rangers are known to give out hefty fines!)
  • On returning to the BVI, yacht must clear in again.

Travel between BVI and other countries:

  • Vessels entering the BVI should proceed directly to a port of entry.
  • Because space at the jetties is limited, vessels are allowed to anchor in the harbor before making Customs Entry.Marina operators are required to ensure that vessels tied up at their marinas have been duty entered at Customs
