Banks and Money Exchange

• The US$ dollar is the accepted currency, as are travelers' cheques.
• Travelers' cheques are accepted incur a stamp duty of 10¢ per use.
• Major Credit cards are accepted on the larger islands like Tortola and Virgin Gorda.
• It is best to carry cash to the smaller islands, as in most cases they will not accept credit cards.

In Road Town clients will find several banks - each with a cash dispenser "ATM" - however, clients should be warned that ATM's are not as reliable in the islands and can sometimes be inoperative.

Note: the only ATM available in Virgin Gorda is at the Yacht Harbour in Spanish Town
